Technical Lead
Responsibilities
Own the technical direction of the applications and solutions within the assigned scope, ensuring alignment with business requirements, architectural principles, and technology standards.
Provide hands-on technical leadership across the full application lifecycle, from solution design and development through maintenance, evolution, and technical debt management.
Analyse complex technical requirements and translate them into scalable, robust, and maintainable solutions.
Design and review complex technical solutions, identifying dependencies, risks, constraints, and opportunities for improvement.
Act as the technical reference for development teams, providing guidance, reviewing technical decisions, and promoting engineering best practices.
Work closely with global, cross-functional teams, ensuring effective communication between technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Ensure the quality, maintainability, security, and performance of application solutions and their underlying technologies.
Maintain and prioritise the Technical Debt Backlog, working with relevant stakeholders to identify, assess, and plan remediation activities.
Own and ensure the quality of the technical documentation for applications, including architecture, integrations, dependencies, technical decisions, and operational aspects.
Assess and coordinate infrastructure change requests, ensuring that technical impacts, dependencies, risks, and required actions are properly identified and documented.
Support the definition and evolution of application and solution architecture, ensuring consistency with enterprise standards and long-term objectives.
Identify opportunities to improve application reliability, performance, scalability, security, and operational efficiency.
Collaborate with Architecture, Infrastructure, Security, Operations, and other technology teams to resolve complex technical issues and dependencies.
Support strategic projects and initiatives, contributing to technical assessments, solution proposals, estimations, and implementation plans.
Participate in Agile ceremonies and contribute to backlog refinement, technical planning, prioritisation, and delivery tracking.
Promote continuous improvement within the development teams, encouraging knowledge sharing, technical excellence, and a strong commitment to delivery quality.
Ensure that technical decisions and deliverables are clearly communicated and aligned with project objectives, timelines, and quality expectations.
Provide technical support in problem-solving activities, acting as an escalation point for complex application and technology issues.
Skills
Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience.
Up to 15 years of experience in the relevant platform, programming language, technology, or framework, depending on the technology stack defined for the project.
Strong hands-on experience with the technologies supporting the application and the ability to work effectively at implementation level when required.
Proven experience designing and implementing complex technical solutions.
Experience as a Technical Lead, Tech Lead, Solution Lead, Senior Developer, or in a similar technical leadership role.
Experience working on strategic and business-critical projects.
Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills, with a structured and solution-oriented approach to problem solving.
Experience managing and prioritising technical debt and driving technical improvement initiatives.
Experience producing and maintaining technical documentation for applications and solutions.
Experience assessing and coordinating infrastructure change requests and understanding their impact on applications and integrations.
Good understanding of software development lifecycle, application architecture, integrations, and technology dependencies.
Knowledge of Agile methodologies and experience working with tools such as JIRA and Confluence is valued.
Knowledge of the Energy & Utilities sector is valued.
Knowledge of GDPR / RGPD and its implications for applications and technology solutions.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Ability to work collaboratively in international and multicultural teams.
Strong sense of ownership and commitment to the quality of technical deliverables.
Fluent in English, written and spoken (mandatory).
Knowledge of Portuguese is valued.
Knowledge of Spanish is valued.
Availability to work in a Hybrid model.
