Technical Lead – Azure Data & Cloud Architecture
Responsibilities
Provide technical leadership in the design and implementation of complex, scalable, and secure data solutions.
Define and drive architectural decisions across data platforms, event-driven architectures, APIs, and integration solutions.
Design and evolve cloud-based data architectures, leveraging Azure and Databricks technologies.
Lead architecture reviews and ensure adherence to engineering best practices, architectural standards, and security requirements.
Promote observability, reliability, and operational excellence, applying an SRE mindset.
Oversee data governance, cloud cost optimization, and technical risk management.
Manage and prioritize the technical debt backlog, ensuring continuous improvement of the platform.
Produce and maintain high-quality technical documentation for applications and architectural solutions.
Assess and manage infrastructure change requests, ensuring alignment with architectural and operational requirements.
Collaborate with global, cross-functional teams to drive technical decisions and ensure delivery quality.
Support knowledge sharing and promote a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Skills
Up to 10 years of experience in the relevant platform, programming language, technology, or framework, as defined by the project requirements.
Degree in Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
Strong hands-on experience with the technologies supporting the application and the ability to design complex technical solutions.
Solid knowledge of data architecture, event-driven systems, APIs, and integration patterns, including: Lakehouse and Medallion architectures, Delta Lake and Unity Catalog, Data Products and Data Mesh (preferred), Event Hubs, Change Data Capture (CDC), and streaming pipelines, REST APIs, asynchronous APIs, and event-driven APIs.
Strong experience with Microsoft Azure technologies, including: Azure Event Hubs, Azure Functions, Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks, Azure Storage, Azure Key Vault and Terraform (preferred).
Experience with GitHub and collaborative development practices.
Knowledge of architecture governance, observability, cloud cost management, security, and data governance.
Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills, with a problem-solving mindset.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work effectively in collaborative environments with international teams.
Strong commitment to delivery quality and continuous improvement.
Knowledge of Agile methodologies, JIRA, and Confluence (valued).
Experience working on complex or strategic projects (valued).
Knowledge of the Energy & Utilities sector and GDPR (valued).
Languages (written and spoken): English (mandatory)and Spanish (valued).
